Corfu (or Kerkyra) was one of the world's  top holiday destinations during the 80's and 90's, and continues to enjoy immense popularity. Corfu holidays are defined by the endless olive groves, the beautiful and varied scenery of a long coastline, including some wonderful sandy beaches, picturesque villages, a big selection of activities and the historic atmosphere of Corfu old town.
Corfu is the most westerly point of Greece and has an area of 570 s.k. with about 120000 residents. Corfu island in the center and the north is described by the lush vegetation (60% of the land is covered by olive groves) and top holiday resorts are strung out along an amazing coastline, alternating with mountains and valleys and narrow coastal roads with stunning views. The west side of the island has the most exotic beaches and unforggetable sunsets. Heading south, the vegetation gets bushy and low-lying. There is a protected lake (Korission lake), home to a great variety of flora and fauna and an extensive forest of Mediterranean cedars. Beaches in this area are all sandy, quieter and there is a lot more privacy.
