The Solomos museum is actually the house where the Greek national poet, Dionysios Solomos, lived most of his life (1798-1857) in Corfu. Solomos was originally born in Zante but lived in Corfu and wrote the national anthem poet which was set to music afterwards from Nikos Mantzaros. The museum is now home to Solomos society for Corfiot studies.The poet's desk is preserved at the museum as well as a small collection of the poet's manuscripts and much photographic material.
The Solomos museum is situated in Mouragia area, in Arseniou Str. You can park in the old port parking for the day (it's usually full during morning hours) and walk up the hill. Note that in the summer it operates only between 0930-1400hrs from Monday to Saturday. Since you would be in the area It would be a good opportunity to visit Vido island or continue your day by exploring Corfu old town.
