Corfu Paleokastritsa is one of the best known spots in Corfu (among with the Achillion Palace). The Paleokastritsa resort (or Paleo) consists of six bays with a mixture of sand and pebble beaches, crystal clear waters (that can get quite cold after a windy day) and a very deep sea. On both of the main beaches (which are seperated by the peninsula which hosts the Paleokastritsa monastery on the top) you can find sunbeds and parasols in reasonable prices, pedalo rental and a huge parking area for your car for a fee of 3Euros for the whole day.
Paleokastritsa's small harbour can accommodate a small size yacht or sailing boat (not in August when it is very crowded) but it's also a starting point for those who wish to rent a boat. Many boat trips are offered to the places of scenic beauty and interest, in an area which has 15 beaches isolated and inaccessible by foot providing the opportunity to enjoy with your friends or family a uniquely relaxing day! Paleokastritsa is also the best area in Corfu for scuba diving and snorkeling.
The area has also a particularly verdant setting with endless olive groves and a monastery of Virgin Mary on the top of the hill, built in 1225, that is well worth a visit.
There are a number of fine restaurants in the aera, serving Greek and international cuisine - the best and most expensive ones are the sea-fronts. Quite a few famous beach bars and about 20 night bars with sea views. Paleokastritsa's beauty has turned the resort in the most famous ones of Corfu for summer holidays. The Italian visitors call it the "Capri of Greece".
NOTE: According to the Greek law any adult can rent a boat wihtout a license if the engine is less than 30HP.
