prasoudi beach corfu tours excursions

Prasoudi beach is the closest beach to Agios Mattheos village (Saint Matthew), on the southwest coast of Corfu. It's a rather small sandy beach in a beatiful setting. Getting there by local transport is impossible. Coming by car from Corfu town, you will definitely need a map and some detailed instructions on the way to Agios Mattheos village, and then to the beach itself. Both ends of the beach lead to other beaches which are isolated and offer privacy.

You will not find any water sports on the beach but there is a large free parking area, free showers and a few sunbeds and umbrellas for rent.

The beach, like all Corfu beaches on the west, is sandy with shallow clean and warm water. Once you get there, the "Avra" taverna just above the beach is serving local cuisine and fresh fish at very reasonable prices with spectacular views of the sunset during dinner. The whole area is very quiet, ideal for relaxation, away from traffic and mass tourism. Its reccommended for your Corfu family holidays but be aware that you will need some activities to fill the day if you are not a reader!
Tip: Try driving back on a different route - the local rural roads pass through areas of great natural beauty, with stunning views of the sea and through ancient olive groves and masses of wild flowers in early summer.

If you deicde to visit the beach or the area around we strongly reccommend a visit to the Governor Olive Mill where you can see the traditional and the modern methods of the harvest but most inportantly to taste one of the best olive oils in the wolrd!
