Founded in 1989 and housed in a traditional two-storey house in the village of Sinarades, the museum consists of a unique collection of furniture and artifacts, put together with knowledge and enthusiasm by members of the historical and folkloric society of Corfu. On the first floor there is a reconstraction of the interior of a village house of the 19th century, with kitchen , dining-room, bedroom and all the furnishings and utensils they would have used at the time.
On the second floor you will find Corfiot costumes, musical instruments, agricultural and artisan tools as well as a multitude of implements and objects from the last century, evoke a way of life that is now almost forgotten.
The museum is not open daily, if you wish to visit it you need to reach Sinarades village and talk to the locals in a cafe shop or on the street. The perosn responsible for its safety will open it for you under previous communication. Getting to Sinarades need the same directions with Agios Gordis beach, it would be a good idea to continue for a refreshing dive after the visit to the museum, the beach is 10min away further down the road.
